Emotional Sporting

I was little disturbed about what happened in India, after we lost to Bangladesh. (I believe same is the case in Pakistan). One of my colleague, Said " Why are people doing like this. It is a shame that we need to protect the players after we lost. Playing is players job and people should not interfere in this matter. What if people started hitting our house if we are not programming properly, it is the same case ". Though I did not completely agree with him, it made me to think of this incident. What makes people even to kill a player? Whether the word "Sportive" exists in sports.

Treating players as God, at the same time abusing them when they don't play well. Is it a good way? Such incidents occur mostly in South America and South Asia. South America, they don't play anything other than football. In our case it is cricket. Since cricket being the only game played here popularly, does it make people wild when we lose it? By making many sports popular, will it dilute people's anger. On a side note, why government is not concentrating atheletics and other sports.

Does the frustation in Asian and Olympic games turned as hope in cricket? Since it became the only hope, that makes people angry. Can the players play well with such huge pressure up on them?

Back to my colleague comment, I don't agree that playing a player's job. When I went to Onsite, my manager advised me that you are not a individual there, you are representing our company. Mistakes you do, will be considered as the mistakes of the company. These players also represent India, players failure are considered as countries failure. They are answerable, but people do not have any right to attack their houses or burn their images.

What do you think??

What if you write a program using billions of dollars, then make a billion people use it, and then it crashes ?

People dont have any rights to attack players at any point of time.

At the same time, these players are not simply sent to play, there is crores and crores money is involved in this. I came to know that 50% of money related to ICC comes from from indian commercials.

Ofcourse, its not acceptable for indian players to perform like this when whole country is looking forward to them..... there is expectation from the country side also players are pretty well paid.

Indian team players loose focus over a period of time...they want fame they want money..blah....blah and loose concentration on their core skill....

Also came to that Dhoni has been presented a propety worth of 50 L recently by local government.....

Cricket in India is becoming more and more emotional than sportive....which is not good...

At the same time....only 15 players from 1 Billion crowd has given chance to perform in global arena...and bad part is they are not able to meet the expection of 1 Billion dream....forget about meeting the expectation...they are certainly not performing upto their potentials....

It was funny that last time who reached world cup final...were not able to even get into super 8....that too more than 50% of team players are the same...

That really Sucks....

Arasa,

I also blame committee. Player should have a fear that that would be changed if they are not playing well. We rarely change players, many players I know for past 10 years. Committee should open gates for the new talents

Playing is definitely a players job. I think the Indian public is the one to blame for allowing the game of cricket to be taken beyond the realm of being a gentlemans game. I personally feel that we should allow the pundits of the game to take over, dissect and do what is best for the game which will impact the country in so many positive ways. As a public, if we restrain from getting involved in the game as no more than a spectator there will not be so much hue and cry about all the loses. The dark world of illegal betting is all the reason for the state of craziness among the public. If you were to ask me how I saw this world cup loss, I would just comment that the indian cricket is losing steam to countries like Australia and New Zealand who dominate the game with a different level of power play.

At the end of the day, I sincerely hope that the people concerned make the right decision to make sure that we still stay among the top cricketing nations. 20 Years ago, the game of hocky went through this transition and since then India has never been able to make it to the top. There are hardly few games that we, as a country, can be counted as among the best. We better not lose that status.

All discussions related to any sport other than Cricket not being promoted the way Cricket is, will always end up in the chicken-Egg theory of no-international stars because of lack of sponsors. It will take years for people in India to take up sport as a profession rather a past time and for us to see stars in other sports.

Balraj,

Well said. I recently read in some magazines. When many team have their national flag on side of their shirts what did our team had?

PEPSI Logo.

Our players are more interested in earning money from ads rather than playing. But they forgot one thing the ads they get are due to their game.

It is a very late comment. But still I go for it.

I do not understand the conept of 'Indian Players'. Though I do not know much about Cricket, from What I have heard/read, BCCI is totally an independent organization. Indian Government or Ministry of Sports has no part in that. BCCI conducts a business just like Reliance, TATA, etc.

Cricket is played only by a limited number of countries. How is the People's money involved in these issues? (Except for the 50 lakh house for Dhoni and DSP Post to Harbhajan)

How is the National spirit involved in this game? People announce deliberately that bookies are involved in Cricket and influence the results.

When all the countries wear their national flag as the dress, Why is the blue color for India? It is because of the Sponsor.

So, It is the game played by a private organisation. There is nothing to boast about their victory or shout at their failure.

Siva,

A special note. Billion dollar software - Used by Billions - Crashing. FYI.. Most from our comp. would belong to tha category.... :-)
