Come Be My Light

This is a recent book with shocking revelation of secret letters from Mother Teresa. The letters of Teresa mostly addresses her spiritual darkness and her inability to feel God. This book may make people to think Teresa as atheist or may even make people as atheist as their spiritual icon had those doubts.

Did seeing so many suffering people around her made her not to feel God. Only God Knows!

Teresa is well known for other good reasons than spiritual. So even if she is an athiest that wouldn't surprise me and many readers as well.

Actually I didnt know how to react to your post. I just wanted to leave my foot print for you to learn that I visited you. :)

I don't think she will be a spiritual icon for most people in India and I don't think of her even as an icon. May be all her services to the poor were much before I was born.

@Seeni, I agree when I see Teresa I see as a social worker rather than a spiritual person. As you and siva said it would be the case for most of the people in India

@Siva "I don't think of her even as an icon" can you elaborate the reason

As I said I have never seen the impact of her work. May be it was well before I was born. May be her charities were not there in southern India. I am not sure why.

All I knew about her was from some glowing tributes in the media which didn't make any impact on me. Can some one be our icon because the Indian express claims she is the icon for India ?

Siva you just sound very novice. Is it just for an argument sake? you dont have to be there & see in your eyes to recognize someone as an icon.

Visit these or use net to learn more about Teresa.

I visited those pages even before writing the first comment. It is not for argument machi. It is matter of my choice.

An icon is object of uncritical devotion.

I personally don't give that status to somebody whose work I just read about.

BTW, Have you ever wondered why Vidyakar (who himself is inspired by mother Teresa) doesn't get as much attention as her in the western media.

@Siva, it is obvious, human tendency to give more focus on a person who is from same race/country.. But at the same time I do not want to under estimate her work. It is also true that there are many other who do good work and never get noticed

Related article was also published in Time. Response of readers - They respected her feelings, they are not surprised and they are upset that the church released such private letters..
